The role

Vercel is hiring a Staff Product Designer to lead design across our platform — the surface most developers encounter daily: dashboards, deployment flows, billing, the CLI, and the documentation layer that ties them together. You'll own design end-to-end, partner directly with engineering and product leads, and set the bar for what shipped work looks like.

This is a senior IC role. We're looking for someone who has shipped to engineers as customers, who thinks in systems, and who can navigate the ambiguity of a platform layer that touches every product team in the company.

We don't have a separate design team for "the platform" and "the products." A staff designer here owns a slice that cuts through both, and is expected to drive the visual and interaction system the rest of design pulls from.

What you'll do

  • Lead design for the deployment, project, and team-management surfaces across the Vercel dashboard.
  • Drive a coherent system for data-dense interfaces — logs, metrics, build pipelines, observability.
  • Partner with the docs and CLI teams to maintain visual and interaction consistency across surfaces.
  • Mentor mid-level designers; raise the craft floor without becoming a manager.
  • Ship. Constantly. We deploy multiple times a day.

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years shipping production software, with a portfolio that demonstrates breadth and depth.
  • Prior experience designing for technical users — developer tools, infra, observability, or similar.
  • Strong systems thinking: you've built and maintained design systems, not just consumed them.
  • Comfort writing — design docs, RFCs, customer-facing release notes.
  • A bias toward shipping over deliberating; we move fast and reverse decisions cheaply.

Compensation & benefits

  • Base salary $190,000–$240,000 depending on level and location.
  • Equity grant (RSUs) on a 4-year vest with a 1-year cliff. Specific grant size discussed at offer.
  • Fully remote within the US. Optional desk in San Francisco, New York, or Brooklyn.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision (Vercel pays 100% of employee premiums).
  • $2,000 home-office stipend, $200/mo wellness stipend, unlimited PTO with a 15-day floor.
  • Two annual company offsites.
